00:00.60 archpodnet Hello and welcome back to the pseudo archeology podcast episode one zero five and we are wrapping up our thoughts and feelings on Graham Hancock's ancient apocalypse now before I get to the very end you guys I got one more story for you I myself. Me Dr. Andrew King Keller has played a tiny bit of a role in the public outcry over all of this and let me explain so as soon as ancient apocalypse came out. And again I'm doing this I'm doing this recording right at the beginning of December so maybe it's been two weeks or something like that. Um, there were archeologists who immediately started to kind of ah hit back and they were doing this by. Posting Youtube video reactions writing articles and so on right? and my students were kind of asking me about it and we were sort of joking about it. Ah on a Saturday in the lab class I teach an all day Saturday lab class and they're like ah can Kelly you should? ah. You know you should do a video um talking about it and I'm like yeah you're right? so the students were on a break and so I went up to my office and I made a video on my Youtube channel on Kingin Kela teaches archeology right? I made a you I made this video and I'm not going to spoil it for you because I want you guys to go watch. It. 01:34.48 archpodnet Because it got some traction. Um I will say I know this is shocking to my audience. But um, it's funny. So I made this video. It's only like four and a half minutes long I just kind of knocked it out I put I put my. Cell phone up I put it on record I recorded this four and a half minute thing put in my computer edited it barely which I usually do if any of you have seen my Youtube videos right? They're very very lightly edited and then I uploaded it to my Youtube channel right. It got over a thousand views in the first 24 hours and I think it's because I put the total click bait title on it of Graham Hancock is right? An archeologist responds to Netflix's ancient apocalypse right. We're setting it up like I'm gonna support him and I do in my own funny way. But so anyway I put this up and then the um reactions the comments I started to get a ton of comments now. What was very interesting to me is. The first ah less than a day. Let's say the first eighteen hours the comments were really fifty fifty like half of the comments went with me. They kind of went with the joke. They would add to the joke and kind of riff on the joke that I did and I thought it was really fun, right? that but was really fun and really funny and I would. 03:07.30 archpodnet Write back I tried to reply to just about everyone which has actually gotten pretty crazy I think I'm going to have to stop. But anyway I would know joke with them and then the other half were pissed and they were like ah what you're doing is just proving Graham Hancock's point which of course. Graham Hancock has set the stage with his narcissistic ah argument that feeds upon itself you know where he attacks. But then if I attack back. It's all me I'm proving Graham Hancock's point that he's oh he's so attacked by archeologists I do also want to add that. I think 1 thing that makes Graham Hancock look a bit bad is at the very beginning of the first episode when he talks about how our all archeologists hate him so much. He looks really whiny. So that part I don't know I guess it was a tradeoff he had to make but anyway so I'm getting some good ones. Some bad ones. But then. Just before 24 hours you know 18 hours in or so the comments went really dark I got a ton more of them and they were all mad and it stayed that way and you guys I have hundreds of comments now I just checked. Um. As of today I'm six days it was six days ago that I uploaded my video so just about four thousand six hundred views one hundred and twenty likes um there is a ton of of comments on it. 274 comments. Yeah so. 04:42.16 archpodnet Give an idea most of my videos usually do not go that big that fast a typical one a slow one would be like a hundred views in a week or something. But so that 1 is skyrocketing up but the angry ones. The angry ones are really. Harsh. You know you're a moron. You're an idiot. Oh and one I got a hundred times. You're un funny and you know what if you get like a hundred comments saying you're unfunny you're probably pretty funny. You probably did something that stung a little bit. Ah how unfunny so since I was ultimately in control and I ultimately uploaded the video. They don't really hurt my feelings but I will say that when you just get a. Ton of negativity pushed your way it does it does put a little weight on your shoulders. It's it's kind of weird but I did experience I I experimented with them with the things that I've been telling you guys I did stuff like if they asked. Like oh so prove it prove how Graham Hancock is wrong. You can't you moron right? and I would just give one of those examples like the one I gave you guys, but the bimini road or p ree or you know whatever I pick one and just write up the description and be like no look. This is how he's wrong. They never went with it. They always be like you don't know. 06:17.13 archpodnet What what degree do you have and of course no matter what your degree is no matter your background. They will always trash you right? They'll just go and go and go until you don't have whatever they want. They'll be like. I'm sure you don't have a degree I'll be like yeah actually I do have a degree. Well I'm sure it's only a master's actually I do have a ph d well I'm sure or some lame school actually's from the University Of California well is it from you see Berkeley know it's from you see riverside. Well there you go there, you go. And you teach it a community college to see There's always they're always looking to knock you down and they always will because because that train ends somewhere right? and it's just silly and it's just it's unfortunately a waste of everyone's time. So. Ah, do hope that other archaeologists ah learn from this and they know that what I've learned is if you want to be nice. You can explain it 1 time you know you can go no actually the evidence is this. 07:19.51 archpodnet 98% of the time they're not going to take it and they're just going to double down on their ignorance but you've done your due diligence. You know you explained in a kind way I'm always very open I never make fun of anyone in that way I've never um. I've never downvoted a video in my life. You guys I Never ah put out that negative energy I Just don't It's just it's something that brings me no joy and that's something else I notice in all this. 07:53.12 archpodnet That there's a lot of lonely people out there I think a big thing I've learned is just how much loneliness is out there these days and just people by themselves living alone or or with people who maybe they're not close to just on the computer all the time. Because I got people who replied like a bunch of times with super long like paragraphs of stuff and I'm like when you see that you're like man you had time to write this like and the answer is yeah they did have time to write it. You know and it's It's really sad and I and I want to I wish the best for those people you know and I I hope that they can find human connection because that's a people need and in a way that's what Graham Handlock exploits you know that that that there's a lot of lonely people out there. There. They're kind of rudderless and he gives them this bs crap show and they go whoa. Hey man the the visuals are really great and the soundtrack's awesome. This guy must know what he's talking about I did notice a handful of people who really did want to know um, who wanted the real knowledge of stuff and I did try. Again, um, even though my my Youtube video was based in a joke I tried to be serious with them and tell them hey look no, it's really this and try and recommend things for them. I I will say most of the time they just slapped me to. Anyways, you know as soon as I did a nice thing. They still just like you don't know you. 09:26.61 archpodnet Socalled archeologist I got that so-called archeologist I also got like socalled professor up. So called I mean I do go there every day and have an office but. Unfortunately I'm just a so called professor oh man, um, in terms of how I feel about Graham Hancock I think the defense he uses if they hate me is a great defense but it's intrinsically embarrassing whiny and lame. Um I think that he is what's funny is he tries to be so serious and look like he's aloof and above it all but he's. So open to ridicule right? and it he needs to be ridiculed That's why he sets it up like don't ridicule cue me stop attacking me. It's like no no, no, no, he needs the full frontal assault archeologists of the world. Do not be worried about Graham Hancock hammer that fool. You know what? I'm saying I mean is he 7 come on. Let's talk as adults about this stuff you know and not get sucked down into these dumb arguments. Oh no, the earth is 6000 years old oh no there was a. 10:48.40 archpodnet Incredibly complex society thirteen thousand years ago and then the ice age washed it all away. Oh good god you know of course not that's my answer canin kill. What do you think? of course not oh but I'm supposed to respect them though. I'm supposed to respect Graham Hancock and his research I got that one a lot you need to respect his research. Ah you know I would respect his research if he did any but he doesn't you know I just happen to not respect a total. Fraud and con artist I don't know. Maybe it's me and with that Graham I'd like you to remember that you're a pseudo archeologist to the core and you will never shake that label of. Pseudo archeologist because it's the only thing that's true about you and with that my friends we're out of here.
