All right? hello and welcome back 1 last time to the pseudo archeology podcast episode 129 and we are wrapping up the gun padang non pyramid. So I was saying we haven't got to the worst bits. There are a couple extremely damning. Little bits and bobs here that we'll that we'll touch on in a minute. Um before we do I do want to talk about sort of the platform structure right? The actual structure. Um, again do look at at Carl Fagan's article. It. It really has good images of this but to see it in your mind's eye. Do picture like like the the top of a hill or sort of like the top of the of a ridge and right when you're near the very top you kind of have a series of of sort of um platforms of so of sizable platforms to kind of step up 1 at a time. You know, picture like a tennis court and then like another tennis court. You know couple feet above then like another tennis court if that makes sense that kind of feel where you haven't created the whole mountain. Why would you right? if you're if you're building an imposing structure. Why would you like. Start at the bottom with bricks when you have a big ass mountain ride over there. You know you're going to use it I've seen this multiple times in other places in the world I've totally seen this in the Maya world where they will.

It's like terraforming. Basically they'll they'll terraform the top of a hill right? they'll they'll sort they'll like flatten the top of a hill and then they're build a pyramid on top of the hill sort of continuing the angle of the hill if that makes sense so when you come up to it. It looks. Superimosing because it is right? The pyramid looks one hundred feet tall but the actual built part of the pyramid might be only thirty feet right the red the other seventy feet is a natural hill but it gives you that entire view of a tall structure. That's the same kind of thing that's happening here. They're using the natural geography in their favor right? and they're going to build at a high imposing place where you can look out and um, it just has this like feeling of power and. Authority. That's what you want you know makes total total sense so we have this really cool structure that has been totally maligned in terms of people trying to say that the natural. Volcanic hill that it's built on is part of the entire structure. It's just foolish and that's twenty five Thousand years old whatever it's just not um, the most damning bits to this. So they basically they found a hundred year old Dutch Coin and they refuse to say that it's a dutch coin they label it an amulet and say that it's 7000 years old and when pressed like but this looks an awful lot like a dutch coin the answer is you can guess this with me while the dutch actually used ancient amulets as models for their coins. Ah I'm I'm I'm sorry I I it's it's really let's be honest, it's not healthy to listen to this podcast it it is it is it is literally bad but it's bad for your brain health. So the last bit of this. Yeah, if that isn't bad enough that might be the bottom of the barrel. But 1 thing that really bums me out is the more the article that was more for the general public. The one that Graham Hancock linked to is not the scientific article. It's this other one in science alert and the title is giant pyramid buried in Indonesia could be the oldest in the world. Man see. There's so much wrong with just the title giant pyramid no buried. No. Yes, it's in Indonesia could be the oldest in the world. No, it's so it starts with utter bullshit and then. It just fills it all in this is lazy reporting you know where it just it. It takes as sacrosanct that that this information is all true and it just goes it just does this deep dive and it's like. Oh yes, it's meticulously meticulously sculpted you have stuff that dates from before the last glacial period all of this it goes in There's nothing about well maybe it's nothing you know so this kills me because if you read an article like this.

It's written very seriously It's got good images. Um very straightforward and anyone from the general public who reads this is just going to think it's true like if I was 18 um before I went to went to college and studied archeology right? if I read this article I'd be like. Oh yeah, well, that's ah, that's a thing like that's okay, um, Genan Petang is an ancient pyramid much older than all egyptian pyramids and it's not right at all. Not even a little like I hope that I've kind of. Broken down there for you. Why this is just again complete bullshit you know and it is a waste of our lives. It's a waste of our time and it's sad you know and I I joked. On the description of this podcast. You know I was like well after this I'm gonna have to spend a generation having people come up to me and go yeah but you know what about that pyramid in Indonesia. And I guarantee you that will happen and I'll have to like debunk it again and again and 1 more time and I will because that's my job and I don't mind doing that you know I'm happy to teach people stuff, but it's just so sad that their mind has just been filled with fake crap you know and.

It is in these moments where I'm just where where it does make me angry towards Graham Hancock because it is such a public disservice.
