Tristan Boyle grew up in Northern Ireland, moving to Scotland where he  attended the University of Aberdeen and earned a degree in Archaeology with Chemistry. As a teenager, he started his first podcast at 16, focused on videogames and, while at university, joined and became Head of Production at Aberdeen Student Radio.

Although he started studying Chemistry, quickly Tristan realised that he found the intrigue of archaeological theory beguiling and chose as many archaeology courses as possible. Then in 3rd year he switched to a joint degree.  In his final year, he joined the Scottish Group of Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and was a committee member for six years.

In August of 2014, he launched the Anarchaeologist Podcast as a response to the gap in the market for an in-depth and reflexive media space to analyse and critique archaeology itself, rather than simply produce archaeological information.

While working his part time job, listening to archaeology podcasts, Tristan happened to hear Chris putting a call out of having podcasts work together to form a network.

In December 2014, Tristan and Chris started the Archaeology Podcast Network, launching with Chris’ CRM Archaeology Podcast, Tristan’s Anarchaeologist Podcast (Now Modern Myth) and Jenny McNiven’s The Struggling Archaeologist’s Guide to Getting Dirty and Archaeotech podcast featuring Chris and Russel Alleen-Williams.

Over the years, Tristan has produced his own show, rebranding from The Anarchaeologist Podcast to Modern Myth, with music supplied by his brother Danny. He was also a producer on the Archaeoanimals Podcast with Dr. Alex Fitzpatrick and Simona Falanga.

Tristan has worked alongside Doug Rocks-Macqueen for many years, both as part of Landward Research and Open Past. Tristan has helped record archaeology conferences in Glasgow, Brighton, Budapest, Bern, Leicester and Belfast.
